Industry Veteran Bob Noonan Retires After 40 Years

Jeff McCorstin has been named vice president of international air and ocean freight transportation services at UPS (NYSE: UPS).

McCorstin will succeed Bob Noonan, whose 40 years of transportation and logistics experience made him a recognized expert in the freight forwarding industry. Noonan played a key leadership role in the successful integration of Fritz Companies after UPS acquired that company in 2001 as well as the growth of freight forwarding within the UPS enterprise.

Starting his UPS career as a delivery driver in 1990, McCorstin quickly advanced into management as a supervisor in Industrial Engineering and subsequently worked in Operations and Strategic Systems. He then moved into various finance positions in Atlanta and Louisville before becoming a field controller based in North Carolina and then southern California.

In 2005, McCorstin returned to Louisville to lead the integration of Menlo Worldwide Forwarding Finance & Accounting. Later in 2005, he was named CFO of UPS Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and relocated to Brussels, Belgium, where he assumed additional responsibilities with EMEA Strategy and Shared Services. In August 2008, McCorstin was named managing director of UPS EMEA freight forwarding, which included air, ocean and road freight products.

McCorstin earned a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from the University of California and a Master of Business Administration degree in finance from San Diego State University.

“Jeff brings a great deal of experience to this position, including expertise across all modes of transportation and in key regions of the world,” said Stephen Flowers, president of UPS Global Freight Forwarding, Transportation and Brokerage. “International air and ocean freight are important growth areas for UPS and Jeff’s vast experience will be a tremendous asset in driving future growth and delivering expanded solutions for our global customers.”

Noonan began his UPS career in logistics in 1984 with Fritz Companies, Inc., becoming part of the UPS Freight/Fritz integration team at UPS in 2001. He was promoted in 2002 to district manager of UPS Supply Chain Solutions in Latin America and Canada. Noonan later led the UPS Freight Forwarding business unit as the Menlo integration global operations manager.

“Bob’s contributions to UPS have been numerous and immeasurable,” added Flowers. “Bob has played a key role in the growth and success of UPS Freight Forwarding over the years and his leadership has been an inspiration to many, both at our company and within the larger industry community.”

As a global freight forwarder and one of the world’s Top 10 Non-Vessel Operating Common Carriers (NVOCCs), UPS provides a complete portfolio of ocean and air freight services including transportation, supplier management, customs brokerage and visibility technology solutions. Air freight services include North American and international air freight as well as UPS Express Critical services for time-critical freight shipment needs across all modes of transportation.
