Additional pickup and delivery services will address volume growth. New facilities bring approximately 500 new jobs to the area.UPS (NYSE: UPS) today announced the addition of two new package distribution facilities in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Both buildings are being leased and modified to serve as distribution facilities. These new additions to UPS’s integrated network address growth in package volume.

“UPS continues to see growth in and around the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex,” said Craig Wiltz, president of the Red River District. “These two new buildings increase our ability to address the rapid expansion of residential and commercial demand and significantly increase our employee base in the area.”

One building, nicknamed “Independence,” is located in the Alliance development of Fort Worth. It will create more than 300 package handler jobs and over 50 tractor trailer driver positions. The 495,000 square-foot building will serve UPS customers in the North Tarrant and South Denton counties.

The Independence facility will feature state-of-the-art package sorting technology. Computerized planning technology will enable UPS engineers to plan package sorts in multiple configurations. This “smart” building technology provides UPS flexibility to balance volume surges or other demand changes.

The second building, located in McKinney, Texas, will bring approximately 120 new full-time jobs to the area. By 2017, UPS will also bring over 200 part-time jobs to McKinney. The 215,000 square-foot facility will serve UPS customers in Collin County.

The modifications are expected to be completed in November 2014 and the buildings will be operational in time for the holiday season. With the addition of these sites, UPS now has eight buildings serving the Dallas-Fort Worth area with more than 7,500 employees. Applicants can learn more about UPS jobs at upsjobs.com.
