Winners Demonstrate Ongoing Commitment to Safety and Professionalism

FedEx continues to prove its commitment to safety each weekend at the state truck driving championships (TDCs). The first place champions from each state competition will go on to compete and represent FedEx at the American Trucking Associations’ 2015 NTDC, known as the “Super Bowl of Safety,” Aug. 11-15 in St. Louis. In addition, each state winner will be recognized by FedEx as part of its safe driving initiative, The Chairman’s Challenge.

“FedEx is dedicated to road safety,” said Frederick W. Smith, chairman, FedEx Corp. “The accomplishments of these participants at the South Carolina state level demonstrate our focus on safely sharing the roads with other motorists every day.”

Each State Truck Driving Championship competition is an opportunity for professional truck drivers to demonstrate their driving skills and safety expertise. These events include a difficult driving-skills challenge, pre-trip inspection and written examination covering vehicle operation and knowledge of federal safety regulations.

In 2014, 138 driving professionals from 45 states representing FedEx Freight, FedEx Ground and FedEx Express qualified to compete at the National Truck Driving Championships by winning their respective state’s competition and driving accident-free for at least one year. Four FedEx drivers captured National Champion titles in the Flatbed, 3-Axle, Straight Truck and Step Van classes. Six other FedEx drivers earned top-three finishes in their respective vehicle classes.

March 30, 2015 – Team FedEx is Off to a Great Start in Louisiana!

Team FedEx has kicked of the 2015 state truck driving championship season in high gear! The first weekend in Louisiana solidified the winning nature of the team with four first-place finishers named in the competition held in Baton Rouge. The state winners will compete in the National Truck Driving Championships (NTDC) held in St. Louis, Missouri, August 12-16.

Eric Courville, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Lafayette, captured first place in the 5-Axle Sleeper class for his eighth state title. Courville was the second-place finisher in the 3-Axle class at the 2013 National Truck Driving Championships (NTDC).

Fellow FedEx Freight driver Xavier Theriot (Shreveport) attained first place in the Twins class for the second consecutive year. This marks his fifth state title.

Donnie Williams, of D.G. Williams, Inc., based at the FedEx Ground station in Monroe, took home the Step Van title for the second consecutive year. This is the third championship title for Williams.

Chad Rudesill, of Rudesill Trucking Inc., based at the FedEx Ground station in Lafayette, took home the state title in the 5-Axle class for the second year in a row. He also earned the Best Pre-Trip Inspection honor.

FedEx Freight drivers Corey Mitchell (Shreveport) and Brian Landry (Lafayette) finished second in the Straight Truck and 4-Axle class, respectively.

Christopher Ford, of Ground Express, Inc., based at the FedEx Ground station in Monroe and Myke Harnage, of RTA Carriers, Inc., based at the FedEx Ground station in Lake Charles, won the third-place trophy in the Straight Truck and Step Van classes, respectively.

Lafayette-based FedEx Freight driver Milton Hebert finished third in the 3-Axle class.

April 20, 2015 – Four More Champs Added to Team FedEx!

Team FedEx captured four first-place titles and a multitude of second- and third-place finishes this weekend. The total number of FedEx drivers headed to the National Truck Driving Championships (NTDC) in St. Louis currently stands at 8.

South Carolina

FedEx Freight driver Tommy Winston, based in Greenville/Spartanburg, won the Tank Truck class for his fifth state title. Tommy, the second-place finisher in this same class at the 2011 NTDC, is now qualified to join the elite FedEx Aces team.

Eddie Days, a driver for FedEx Express based in Hilton Head, topped the competitors in the Step Van class for his first state title.

Ray Shelton, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Greenville/Spartanburg, finished second in the Flatbed class.

FedEx Express driver Steven Ward (Greer) took home the third-place trophy in the 3-Axle class.

Dubby Freeman, of Dubby C Freeman Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Florence, and Chris Turnipseed, of T&S Ground Services Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Columbia, finished the sweep in the Step Van class with their second- and third-place finishes, respectively.

Additionally, Jeff Wyder, of Night Flyte, Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Columbia, achieved the highest score on the written exam.

Virginia

Daniel Woods, a driver for FedEx Express based in Christiansburg, finished first in the Step Van class for his second title.

FedEx Freight driver Bill Lindsey (Virginia Beach) captured the top spot in the 4-Axle class.

Fellow FedEx Freight driver Bobby Poage (Roanoke) finished second in the 4-Axle class.

Herndon-based FedEx Express drivers Greg Long and Jaime Matos finished the sweep in the Step Van class with their second- and third-place finishes, respectively.

David Bosserman, a driver for FedEx Freight in Staunton, took home the third-place trophy in the Straight Truck class.

Additionally, FedEx Ground was awarded the Team Trophy.

April 27, 2015 – TDCs roll on in Arizona

Team FedEx gained another champion this weekend in The Grand Canyon state. Eight other competitors earned top honors as well. The total number of FedEx drivers headed to the National Truck Driving Championships (NTDC) in St. Louis currently stands at nine.

Kevin Ekstrom, of Jdubwest Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Tucson, captured his first Arizona state title in the Step Van class.

Finishing the sweep in the Step Van class were John Patterson, of San Miguel Logistics Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Tempe and Ricardo Arizpe, of Ivanes Express Company, Incorporated, domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Tucson, with their second- and third-place finishes, respectively.

Charlie Woodland, a driver for FedEx Freight based in North Phoenix, and Joseph Gross, of Three BT, Inc., domiciled at the FedEx Ground station in Tempe, finished second and third, respectively, in the Straight Truck class.

FedEx Freight drivers Mohammed Khan (Tucson) and Reynaldo Murrieta (Yuma) took home the second- and third-place trophies in the Twins class.

Shane Auclair (Phoenix) and Demetric Martin (Flagstaff), both drivers for FedEx Freight, finished second and third, respectively, in the 3-Axle class.

May 4, 2015 – Nine more champs for FedEx!

FedEx continues to prove its commitment to safety each weekend at the state truck driving championships (TDCs). Nine drivers earned state titles in Mississippi, New Mexico and Tennessee this past weekend. There were numerous second- and third-place finishers. This gives FedEx a total of 18 competitors moving on to the national competition.

New Mexico

FedEx competitors continued their year-after-year success in the southwestern state with 11 drivers taking home top honors.

Dion Saiz, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Albuquerque, captured his third state title with a win in the Twins class. He also earned the Grand Champion honor.

Chris Shaw, a driver for FedEx Express based in Albuquerque, earned his sixth consecutive state title, this year in the Step Van class. Chris is the reigning National Champion in the same class.

FedEx Freight driver Ray Sandoval (Albuquerque) won the 3-Axle class for his third state title.

Fellow FedEx Freight driver Parcell James (Albuquerque) earned his first state title in the 4-Axle class. He was also named Rookie of the Year.

Finishing the sweep in the Step Van class were Eric Kurowski, a driver for FedEx Express based in Albuquerque, and Uriel Fuentes, of Independent Delivery Inc., domiciled at the FedEx Ground station in Las Cruces, with their second- and third-place finishes, respectively.

Another sweep, this time in the 3-Axle class, was completed by FedEx Freight drivers Celso Romero (Roswell) and Isaiah Thomas (Farmington) with their second- and third-place finishes, respectively.

FedEx Freight driver Dan Bruch (Albuquerque) took home the second-place trophy in the 5-Axle class.

Fellow Albuquerque teammates, Brooks Washburn and Frank Pompa, finished third in the Flatbed and Tank Truck classes, respectively. Both drive for FedEx Freight. Brooks finished second in the 5-Axle class at the 2007 National Truck Driving Championships (NTDC).

Additionally, FedEx Freight received the Team Trophy. Doug Regnier, service center manager – Albuquerque, was recognized with the New Mexico Trucking Association’s Distinguished Career Award.

Tennessee

Further east, three additional competitors earned state titles in Tennessee.

Dave Magee, a driver for FedEx Freight domiciled in Dresden, captured the top spot in the Tank Truck class for his sixth state title.

James Sheehan, of Sheehan Trucking Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Nashville, won the top of the Step Van class for his third state title. James was the 2011 National Champion in the same class.

FedEx Freight driver Scott Lambert (Kingsport) won the Twins class for his first state title.

James Sowder, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Jackson, finished second in the Flatbed class.

Fellow FedEx Freight drivers Samuel Collins (Nashville), Jeff Stinson (Kingsport) and Danny Tedder (Nashville) captured the third-place spots in the Step Van, Tank Truck and Straight Truck classes, respectively.

Mississippi

Down in the Magnolia State, Team FedEx added another duo to the roster headed to St. Louis later this summer.

John Smith Jr., of JSJ Trucking Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Tupelo, earned his eighth state title with a win in the Flatbed class. John was the 2010 National Champion and 2007 Co-Champion in the same class and the 2008 National Champion in the Tank Truck class.

Brandon Lee, of B & C Massengale Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Hattiesburg, earned his first state title in the Step Van class. He also earned the Rookie of the Year award and posted the highest score on the driving course.

FedEx Freight drivers Terry Young (Grenada), Todd Lea (Jackson) and James McNeill (NE Memphis) placed second in the 3-Axle, 5-Axle and Twins classes, respectively.

Nikita Hodges, of S & S Delivery Service, Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Tupelo, finished second in the Step Van class.

Don Nehring, of L & J Services Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground hub in Olive Branch, took home the third-place trophy in the Straight Truck class. Don was the 2005 third-place finisher at the NTDC in the same class.

FedEx Freight Jackson-based drivers Brian Wallace and Randy Byrd finished third in the Flatbed and 4-Axle classes, respectively.

Additionally, Kenny Neal, of Wayne Young, Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground hub in Olive Branch, won the Best Pre-Trip Inspection award.

Texas – San Antonio Regional

At the San Antonio regional competition, three drivers captured first- and second-place finishes to advance to the Texas state final in June.

In the Step Van class, FedEx Freight driver Fread Cielencki (San Antonio) and Clayton Lundell, of Grams & Papa Experience Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Austin, finished first and second, respectively. Francisco Leyva, a driver for FedEx Freight based in El Paso, finished second in the 4-Axle class.

May 11, 2015 – Team FedEx adds eight more champions!

With eight more state champs in the books following two TDCs held the weekend of May 7-9, the total number of FedEx competitors headed to the NTDC in St. Louis currently stands at 26.

North Carolina

Team FedEx dominated the Tar Heel State by taking home first-place trophies in seven of nine classes and also a multitude of second- and third-place finishes.

Basher Pierce, the reigning 2014 National 3-Axle Champion, captured his fourth state crown with a win in the 5-Axle class this year. Basher is a driver for FedEx Freight based in Greensboro.

Fellow FedEx Freight driver Cecil Hicks (Charlotte) finished first in the Tank Truck for his fourth North Carolina title.

Don Thompson, also a driver for FedEx Freight in Charlotte, captured his second consecutive 5-Axle Sleeper state title.

FedEx Express driver Paul Caruolo (Raleigh) won the Straight Truck class for his first state title.

William “J.R.” Goodson, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Charlotte, attained his first state title in the Flatbed class.

Johnny Willard, of Leonard Delivery Service Inc., domiciled at the FedEx Ground station in Greensboro, earned first place in the Step Van class.

Rondal Woodie (Charlotte) finished first in the Twins class. Rondal is a driver for FedEx Freight.

Greensboro-based FedEx Freight drivers Len Coleman and Matt Hall took home second-place trophies in the Twins and 5-Axle Sleeper classes, respectively.

FedEx Express drivers Dave Rohman (Charlotte) and Mike Bills (Durham) finished second in the 3-Axle and Step Van classes, respectively. Mike finished third in the same class at the 2012 National Truck Driving Championships (NTDC).

Completing the sweep in the Straight Truck class were David Young, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Charlotte, and Harold Leonard, of Leonard Delivery Service Inc., domiciled at the FedEx Ground station in Greensboro, with their second- and third-place finishes, respectively.

Additionally, Luis Fernanders, of Simpson Logistics, Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground hub in Greensboro, took home the Best Pre-Trip Inspection award.

Georgia

A little further south in the Peach State, FedEx earned a few more pieces of hardware.

Jonathan Churchwell, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Northwest Atlanta, captured his first state title with a win in the Straight Truck class.

Fellow FedEx Freight driver Tim Taylor (Valdosta) finished second in the Tank Truck class.

Reggie Gray, a driver for FedEx Express based in Atlanta, and Justin Nehring, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Valdosta, earned third-place finishes in the 5-Axle and 3-Axle classes, respectively.

Texas – Houston Regional

At the Houston regional competition, six drivers captured first- and second-place finishes to advance to the Texas state final in June.

May 18, 2015 – Thirty-five more champs added to the roster

In the largest competition weekend so far of 2015, 35 more FedEx Champs will be packing their bags for St. Louis in August. The current total stands at 61.

Ohio

Team FedEx dominated the Buckeye State by winning six of the the nine classes.

Scott Woodrome, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Dayton and current America’s Road Team Captain, captured his tenth consecutive Ohio state title with a win in the Flatbed class. Scott has taken home a trophy every year that he’s competed.

Andrew Tuck, of Addison Transportation Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Dayton, won the Step Van class for his third state title.

Brett Brunkenhoefer, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Youngstown, finished first in the 3-Axle class.

Fellow FedEx Freight driver Byran Elges (Youngstown) attained the first-place spot in the 5-Axle Sleeper class.

Taking home the 4-Axle first-place trophy was David Hammock, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Mansfield.

Scott Newcome, of Danstud Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Cleveland, won his first state title in the Straight Truck class.

Finishing the first of three class sweeps were Matt Hall, of SKH Management Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Cleveland, and Patikorn Louangphixay, of M. A. Bodey, Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in East Columbus, with their second- and third-place finishes in the Step Van class, respectively.

Finishing second and third, respectively, in the Straight Truck class were Derrick Miller, of A. Jacobs, Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Columbus, and Lou Gaspar, a driver for FedEx Express (Cleveland).

FedEx Freight drivers James Vance (Cincinnati) and Larry Lorenz (Akron) completed the sweep in the Twins class with their second- and third-place finishes, respectively.

Steve Brand (Dayton) and Ryan Mitri (Mentor) attained third-place finishes in the 3-Axle and 4-Axle classes, respectively.

Additionally, Tyler Shoemaker, of Timzac, Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in East Columbus, was awarded the Sportsman Award, and FedEx Freight earned the Largest Team Award.

Kentucky

Further south in the Bluegrass state, five more champs were added.

John Willinger, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Louisville, earned his eighth state title with a win in the 4-Axle class.

Fellow Louisville-based FedEx Freight driver David Proctor earned his third state title after taking home the Twins class trophy.

Jesse Benkert, of Seven Springs Enterprises, Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Louisville, captured his third state title in the Step Van class.

Rickie Livingston, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Louisville, finished first in the Straight Truck class for his third state title. Rickie also earned the Best Pre-Trip Inspection award.

FedEx Express driver Dwayne Heaverin (Hebron) earned his second consecutive title in the 3-Axle class.

Finishing the sweep in the Step Van class were Shane Smith, a driver for FedEx Express based in Louisville, and William Kerr, of Madison Trucking Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Lexington, with their second- and third-place finishes, respectively.

FedEx Freight driver Brad Mertz (Louisville) and FedEx Express driver Doug Adams (Hebron) finished second and third in the Tank Truck class.

FedEx Freight drivers Wayne Crowder (Louisville) and Steven Hyde (Bowling Green) took home third-place trophies in the 5-Axle and Straight Truck classes, respectively. Wayne won the Flatbed title at the 2013 National Truck Driving Championships (NTDC).

South Dakota

Mike Whitehead (Sioux Falls) captured his seventh state title with a win in the Flatbed class. While Rapid City-based Brian Cusson finished first in the Twins class for his fourth state title.

Fellow Rapid City-driver Marty Kraft took home the first-place trophy in the Tank Truck class and Virgil Thiewes, based in Watertown, attained first-place in the Straight Truck class.

Jason Skotvold (Sioux Falls) earned his first state title with a win in the 3-Axle class.

Sioux Falls-based drivers Jere Rions and Jay Love finished third in the Twins and 3-Axle classes, respectively.

Delaware

Jose Perez, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Wilmington, captured the top spot in the Twins class for the second straight year. He also earned the Grand Champion title for achieving the highest score among the winners of all classes.

Fellow Wilmington-based FedEx Freight driver Randy O’Dell posted first in the 3-Axle class for his third state title. He also turned in the highest score in the Pre-Trip Inspection portion of the competition.

Tommy Passwaters, of Travis Boardman Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Seaford, Delaware, earned his first state title with a win in the Step Van class.

FedEx Freight driver David Valentin (Wilmington) attained the first-place spot in the 5-Axle class.

Wilmington-based FedEx Freight drivers Lou Lockard, Keith Moreno and Mark Pedley all took home second-place trophies in the 4-Axle, 3-Axle and Twins classes, respectively. Mark also earned the Rookie of the Year award.

Joe Peterson, a driver for FedEx Express based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, finished second in the 5-Axle class.

Finishing the sweep in the Step Van class were Ryan Bailey and Josh Keenan, both of Travis Boardman Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Seaford, Delaware, with their second- and third-place finishes, respectively.

California

Out West, FedEx competitors advanced to the state championship in California after regional competitions. The Southern Regional was held in April, while the Northern Regional was held on Saturday. Regional winners for the southern competition can be found here, while northern regional winners are listed below.

At the state competition on Sunday, Bernard Llave, a driver for FedEx Express based in San Diego, captured his third state title, this year in the Straight Truck class.

FedEx Freight driver Charles Pullen (Oxnard) earned his second consecutive state title in the 3-Axle class.

Oscar Enciso, of Encizo Inc., domiciled at the FedEx Ground station in Burbank, captured the top spot in the Step Van class for his second state title.

Hobie Eirich, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Anaheim, won his first state title in the 4-Axle class.

Fellow FedEx Freight drivers Francisco Quiran (San Bernardino) and Narciso Delgado (Fresno) took home the second-place trophies in the Twins and Tank Truck classes, respectively. Narciso also earned the Rookie of the Year award.

Finishing the sweep in the Step Van class were Raul Perez, of Carru’s Enterprises, domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Los Angeles, and Eric Damon, a driver for FedEx Express based in Monterey, with their second- and third-place finishes, respectively.

FedEx Freight driver Artemio Trujillo (Whittier) finished third in the 5-Axle class.

FedEx Express drivers Gilbert Recio (Compton) and Eric Duran (San Diego) attained third-place finishes in the Straight Truck and 4-Axle classes, respectively.

Massachusetts

Roland Bolduc, a driver for FedEx Express based in Windsor, Connecticut, won his twelfth state title, this year in the Flatbed class. He also tied for the Highest Written Exam. Roland was the 2012 and 2013 National Champion in the 3-Axle class.

Fellow FedEx Express driver Bob Ledoux (Raynham) took the top spot in the Step Van class for his fourth state title. Bob finished third in the same class at the 2011 NTDC.

FedEx Freight driver Ed Oakes (Hartford, Connecticut) captured his third state title, this year in the Twins class.

Bill Colantuone, a driver for FedEx Express based in Raynham, earned his second Massachusetts Straight Truck title.

FedEx Freight drivers Sean Corley (Hartford, Connecticut), Thomas Foley (Avon) and Dan Hebert (Avon) finished second in the 4-Axle, Twins and Tank Truck classes, respectively. Thomas also earned the Best Pre-Trip Inspection award.

Finishing second in the 5-Axle class was Arthur Clark, of Xcelsior Logistics, Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Brockton. Arthur was also named Rookie of the Year.

Finishing the sweep in the Step Van class were FedEx Express drivers Kevin Burke (Wilmington) and John Varao (Raynham) with their second- and third-place finishes, respectively.

Alaska

Kitiona “Muku” Afusia (Anchorage) captured his second consecutive state title in the Straight Truck class.

Fellow Anchorage-based driver Becky Nelson won the Step Van class for her second consecutive title. She also earned the Highest Written Exam award and Best Pre-Trip Inspection.

Doug Rickel and Cathy Bailey attained second-place finishes in the 3-Axle and Step Van classes, respectively. Both are based in Anchorage.

John Western (Wasilla) finished third in the Step Van class.

Idaho

James Neavear, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Pocatello, posted first in the 4-Axle class for the second consecutive year.

Brandon Becker, of Silvester Distributing, Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Boise, captured his first state title in the Step Van class.

FedEx Freight drivers Matt Housley (Boise) and Adam Heim (Spokane) finished second in the 3-Axle and 4-Axle classes, respectively.

Back east, Bob Cochran, a driver for FedEx Express based in Augusta, captured his third title, this year in the Step Van class.

Fellow FedEx Express driver Jared Elston (Portland) also earned his third state title with a win in the 4-Axle class.

Fred Lindsey, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Bangor, finished second in the 4-Axle class.

Completing the sweep in the Step Van class were Scott Wickstrom, a driver for FedEx Express based in Bangor, and Jeffrey Thoms, of Thoms Express, Inc., domiciled at the FedEx Ground station in Bangor, with their second- and third-place finishes, respectively

Additionally, Raymond Rogers, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Bangor, won the Best Pre-Trip Inspection award.

Rhode Island

David Lumpkin, a driver for FedEx Express based in Warwick, captured his third straight state title, this one in the Step Van class.

Finishing the sweep in the Step Van class were fellow Warwick-based FedEx Express drivers Keith Towne and David Brown, with their second- and third-place finishes, respectively.

Providence-based FedEx Freight drivers Robert Burdett and Steven Migneault finished second and third, respectively, in the Twins class. Robert was also named Rookie of the Year.

Karen Tierney, a driver for FedEx Express based in Warwick, earned the third-place trophy in the 4-Axle class. She also earned the Highest Written Exam score.

Wisconsin

As the Tyler regional competition, three FedEx Express drivers captured first- and second-place finishes to advance to the Texas state final in June.

In the Step Van class, Pedro Alonzo (Plano) and Todd Trahan (Garland) finished first and second, respectively. Mike Orozco (El Paso) finished second in the 3-Axle class.

June 1, 2015 – Three more drivers headed to St. Louis

Team FedEx captured three more first-place titles and several second- and third-place finishes this weekend in Oklahoma. The total number of FedEx drivers headed to the National Truck Driving Championships (NTDC) in St. Louis currently stands at 64.

Randy Reed, a driver for FedEx Express based in Tulsa, captured his fifth state title with a win in the 3-Axle class. He also earned the Grand Champion. Randy is now qualified to join the elite FedEx Aces team.

Fellow FedEx Express driver Richard Bright (Stillwater) won the Step Van trophy for his second state title.

Kevin Mustin, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Oklahoma City, took home his first state title after winning the Flatbed class.

Larry Kendall, a driver for FedEx Express in Tulsa, finished second in the 5-Axle class.

Completing the sweep in the Step Van class were Curtis Harpole, of K2 Express, Incorporated, domiciled at the FedEx Ground station in Oklahoma City, and Kendall Ellis, a driver for FedEx Express also based in Oklahoma City, with their second- and third-place finishes, respectively.

FedEx Freight driver Tom Westlock (Tulsa) and FedEx Express driver Wade Wolfenkoehler (Oklahoma City) took home the second- and third-place trophies for the 4-Axle class, respectively.

Additionally, FedEx Express was awarded the Team Trophy.

June 8, 2015 – Team FedEx grows by Thirty!

Thirty more drivers from nine states will be making their way to the National Truck Driving Championships (NTDC) in August after winning state titles in their respective states. Team FedEx currently stands at 94.

Colorado

Team FedEx dominated in the Centennial State by capturing the top spot in seven of nine classes.

Michael Zabawa, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Denver, captured his first title in the Straight Truck class. He also took home the Grand Champion title and posted the highest score in the Pre-Trip Inspection portion of the competition.

Denver-based FedEx Freight driver Dave Mogler won his twelfth state title, this time in the Twins class.

Matthew Allison, of Grounded, domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Denver, took home his third Step Van state title.

Paul Swan, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Denver, won his third state title, this year in the 3-Axle class.

FedEx Freight driver Tyler Rogers (Grand Junction) captured the Flatbed title for the second consecutive year.

Fellow FedEx Freight driver Brook Figgins (Springfield) won his first state title in the 5-Axle Sleeper class. Brook was also awarded the Rookie of the Year award.

Christopher Allen, also a Denver-based FedEx Freight driver, won the Tank Truck state title.

Finishing the sweep in the Step Van class were Dewayne Shippy, of S4 Holdings, Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground Home Delivery station in Denver, and Willian Garcia, of S&S Cargo, Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Denver, with their second- and third-place finishes, respectively.

Grand Junction-based FedEx Freight drivers Jason Lyons and Kirk Poe took home the third-place trophies in the Tank Truck and Straight Truck classes, respectively.

Additionally, FedEx Freight was awarded the second-place Team Trophy.

Minnesota

Over in the North Star State, Paul Butkowski, a driver for FedEx Freight based in St. Cloud, earned his sixth state title with a win in the 3-Axle class. Paul also posted the highest score in the Pre-Trip Inspection portion of the competition and earned the highest written exam score.

Fellow FedEx Freight based driver Reggie Copeland (Minneapolis) captured his fourth state title, this time in the Straight Truck class.

Rob Janke, a driver for FedEx Express based in Minneapolis, attained his third state title with a win in the 4-Axle class.

Alex Lofgren, of Hynes Trucking, Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in St. Paul, finished at the top of the Step Van class.

Jeff Rider, of EW Carriers, Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground hub in St. Paul, earned the top spot in the 5-Axle Sleeper class.

FedEx Freight driver Shawn Smith (Minneapolis) finished second in the 3-Axle class.

Finishing the sweep in the Step Van class were Angela Weicherding, a driver for FedEx Express based in Roseville, and Kerry Nelson, of GroundForce Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in St. Paul, with their second- and third-place finishes, respectively.

FedEx Express driver Bill Pudney (Roseville) and FedEx Freight driver Bruce Derosier (St. Cloud) finished third in the Straight Truck and Twins classes, respectively.

Additionally, FedEx Freight was awarded the Team Trophy.

Illinois

A little further south, Joe Carson, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Effingham, captured his fourth state title, this year in the Tank Truck class.

Fellow FedEx Freight driver Tim Banasiak (Peru) attained his fourth state title with a win in the 5-Axle Sleeper class.

Ivan Nikolic, of IN Trucking, Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground hub in Chicago, won his second state title in the 5-Axle class.

Miguel Corral, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Chicago Heights, won his first state title in the Twins class.

Terry Munyer, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Bolingbrook, placed second in the Twins class.

Finishing the sweep in the Step Van class were FedEx Freight drivers Scott Sears (Des Plaines) and Jimmy Wilson (Effingham), with their second- and third-place finishes, respectively.

Ritch Fundell, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Peru, and Peter Hipsky, of BOR Transport Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground hub in Chicago, finished second and third in the 4-Axle class, respectively.

North Dakota

Joe Honek, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Grand Forks, captured his fourth state title, this year in the Straight Truck class.

Fellow FedEx Freight driver Chris Scholand (Fargo) finished at the top of the 5-Axle class for his first state title.

Daniel Nygord, a driver for FedEx Express based in Grand Forks, earned his first state title with a win in the Step Van class.

Fargo-based FedEx Freight drivers Scott Meyers, Bradley Strom and Dean Eklund finished second in the 3-Axle, Tank Truck and Twins classes, respectively.

FedEx Express driver Christine Bender (Bismarck) took home the second-place trophy in the Step Van class.

Wayne Krueger, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Fargo, earned the third-place trophy in the Flatbed class.

Utah

Team FedEx continued to earn hardware further West in the Beehive State.

Ron Pease, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Salt Lake City, earned his seventh state title with a win in the 3-Axle class.

Kevin Ashby, of Nine Stars, Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Salt Lake City, posted at the top of the Step Van class for his first state title.

Jessie Williams, of Tipiani Transportation Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Salt Lake City, also earned his first state title with his win in the Straight Truck class. Jessie also earned the Rookie of the Year award.

FedEx Freight driver Dwight Deforest (Salt Lake City) finished second in the Flatbed class.

Finishing the first of two sweeps, this one in the Straight Truck class, were Dan Brophy, of D & E Delivery Services, Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Provo, and Lonnie Christensen, of Manx, Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Hurricane, with their second- and third-place finishes, respectively.

The second sweep came in the Step Van class by Joey Price, of Kathy Richmond Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Salt Lake City, and Chris Stone, a driver for FedEx Express based in Orem, by finishing second and third, respectively.

Salt Lake City-based FedEx Freight drivers Kay Cragun and Michael Shepherd finished third in the 3-Axle and Twins classes, respectively.

Additionally, FedEx Freight and FedEx Ground earned the first- and second-place team trophies, respectively.

Nebraska

John Poppen, a driver for FedEx Freight, captured his third state title with a win in the 4-Axle class.

Fellow FedEx Freight driver Paul Badgett (Aurora) took home the state title in the 3-Axle class.

Travis Minnick, a driver for FedEx Express based in Lincoln, won the Step Van state title. Travis also posted the highest score in the Pre-Trip Inspection portion of the competition.

Finishing the sweep in the Step Van class were Omaha-based FedEx Express drivers Mark Tech and Adam Stroup, with their second- and third-place finishes, respectively.

New Hampshire

Peter Borges, a driver for FedEx Express based in Londonderry, earned his second straight 3-Axle title.

Fellow Londonderry-based FedEx Express driver Pat Osborn earned his second straight title in the Step Van class.

Belmont-based FedEx Freight drivers Charles Bourret and Robert Fair and FedEx Express driver Paul McNutt (Londonderry) earned second-place finishes in the 3-Axle, Twins and Straight Truck classes, respectively.

Finishing the sweep in the Step Van class were Charles Putnam and Sean Marden, with their second- and third-place finishes, respectively. Both are based in Londonderry.

Paul Robichaud, a driver for FedEx Express out of Londonderry, and Gabe Benet, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Belmont, took home the second- and third-place trophies in the Flatbed class, respectively. Paul also posted the highest score in the Pre-Trip Inspection portion of the competition.

Vermont

Andre Raven, a driver for FedEx Express based in St. Johnsbury, earned his first state title with a win in the Straight Truck class. Andre was also named Rookie of the Year.

Jeremiah Jarvis, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Montpelier, earned his second title in three years, this year in the Twins class.

FedEx Express drivers David Doucet (St. Johnsbury) and Chris Goddard (Williston) posted second in the Straight Truck and 3-Axle classes, respectively.

Cass Bresette, of Kerwick Trucking, a contractor for FedEx Custom Critical based in Alburgh, finished second in the 5-Axle Sleeper class. Cass also earned the highest score on the written exam portion of the competition.

Troy Kilburn, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Bellows Falls, finished third in the Twins class.

Maryland

Mike Forchetti, a driver for FedEx Express based in Rockville, took home his sixth state title with a win in the Step Van class. Mike was the third-place finisher in the same class at the 2013 National Truck Driving Championships (NTDC).

Robert Hare, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Hagerstown, and Jay Hoover, of JLH Trans, Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground hub in Hagerstown, finished second in the 3-Axle and 5-Axle Sleeper classes, respectively.

Completing the sweep in the Step Van class were FedEx Express drivers Tracey Dawson (Crofton) and Mike Darden (Linthicum Heights), with their second- and third-place finishes, respectively.

Hagerstown-based FedEx Freight drivers Larry Russell and Scott Mertz took home the second- and third-place trophies in the Twins class.

Brian Fickes, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Hagerstown, finished third in the Flatbed class. Brian also earned the Rookie of the Year award.

Michigan

Four FedEx Freight drivers earned top placements in the XX state.

David Mikota (Detroit) finished second in the 4-Axle class.

Jim Fisher and Scott Brown, both based in Fremont, Indiana, and Jeff Fisher (Warren) took home third-place trophies in the 4-Axle, 3-Axle and Straight Truck classes, respectively.

June 15, 2015 – Team FedEx takes 35 top spots in 14 state competitions

FedEx teams cleaned house in several states with 35 competitors winning first-place in their respective competitive classes. We now have a new grand total of 128 champions heading to the National Truck Driving Championships (NTDC) in St. Louis.

Oregon

Dan Shamrell, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Portland and a former National Champion, captured his fourteenth state title with his win in the 3-Axle class. He also took home the Grand Champion title.

Fellow Portland-based FedEx Freight driver Chris Outen earned his sixth state title with a win in the Twins class. Chris finished second in the 4-Axle class at the 2012 NTDC.

Jim Rud, also based in Portland for FedEx Freight, attained his third state title by winning the Straight Truck class.

Ryan Dalke, of Ryan Trucking, Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Medford, earned his third state Step Van title.

FedEx Freight driver Curt Davis (Portland) posted first in the 5-Axle class for his second title.

Fellow Portland-based FedEx Freight driver Brad Lester won the first-place spot in the 4-Axle class.

Manuel Cruz, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Eugene, finished second in the Straight Truck class.

Completing the first of two class sweeps were Adis Zolja and Sulejman Jahjefendic, both of G NW Express Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground hub in Portland, with their second- and third-place finishes, respectively, in the Twins class.

The second sweep came in the Step Van class by Kailen Bronson, of Bronspac Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Portland, and Jonathan Holman, a driver for FedEx Express based in Corvallis, with their second- and third-place finishes, respectively.

New York

Mark McLean, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Newburgh, earned his seventh state title with a win in the 4-Axle class. He also tied for the top score on the written exam. Mark was the second-place finisher in the Twins class at the 2012 NTDC and the 2009 National Champion in the same class.

Jim Kohr, a driver for FedEx Express based in Rochester, captured his fourth state title by winning the Straight Truck class.

Richard Decker, of 3 Reds, Inc., domiciled out of the Cheektowaga FedEx Home Delivery station, posted first in the Step Van class.

FedEx Freight driver David Watson (Newburgh) took home the title in the 5-Axle class. He also was also named Rookie of the Year.

Fellow FedEx Freight driver Barry Simmons (Rochester) finished second in the Twins class.

Finishing the sweep in the Step Van class were Luke Sanger, of FDXPNY Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Plattsburgh, and David Schneidewind, of Dave’s Package Delivery Service Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground Home Delivery station in Bethpage, with their second- and third-place finishes, respectively. David also had the highest pre-trip inspection score.

FedEx Express driver Randy Swart (Syracuse) and FedEx Freight driver Randy Merle (Rochester) completed the sweep in the 4-Axle class by finishing second and third, respectively.

Mike Guanciale, a driver for FedEx Express based in Syracuse, and Chad Bauder, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Watertown, attained the second- and third-place trophies, respectively, in the 3-Axle class. Mike also tied for the top score on the written exam.

FedEx Freight driver Tracy VanAlstyne (Albany) finished third in the Straight Truck class.

Additionally, FedEx Express was awarded the Team Trophy.

Nevada

Eric Flick, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Mill City and a current America’s Road Team Captain for the American Trucking Associations (ATA), earned his third state title with a win in the Tank Truck class.

Jose Razo, of Hernandez Corp., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Las Vegas, captured his second-consecutive Step Van title.

FedEx Freight driver Dan Ledbetter (Reno) posted the top spot in the 5-Axle class for this second state title.

Adrian Campos, of Hernandez Corp., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Las Vegas, won the state title in the Straight Truck class.

FedEx Express drivers Bob Fini (Las Vegas) and Patrick Nerger (Reno) took home the second-place trophies for the Straight Truck and 5-Axle classes, respectively.

Finishing the sweep in the Step Van class were Nick Pangallo, of Elite Trans Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Las Vegas, and Keith Meriwether, a driver for FedEx Express based in Las Vegas, with their second- and third-place finishes, respectively.

FedEx Freight driver Matt Hart (Elko) and FedEx Express driver Scott Parks (Las Vegas) finished third in the 3-Axle and 4-Axle classes, respectively.

Florida

Rusty Pederson, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Jacksonville, captured his fourth state title with a win in the 3-Axle class.

FedEx Express driver David Font (Miami) posted the top spot in the 4-Axle class, earning him his third state title.

Brian Cobb, of Cobb Shipping Enterprises, Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Ocala, won the Step Van state title.

Tampa-based FedEx Freight driver Denny Johnson earned his first state title with a win in the Straight Truck class.

Completing the first of two class sweeps were Scott Hamilton, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Jacksonville, and Steve Schroeder, of Sun Coast Delivery Systems, Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground Home Delivery station in Fort Myers, with their second- and third-place finishes, respectively, in the Straight Truck class.

The second class sweep was in the Step Van class by FedEx Express drivers Brian Kane (Longwood) and Brian Castanheira (Gainesville). They finished second and third, respectively.

Finishing third in the 3-Axle, 4-Axle and 5-Axle Sleeper classes were Julio Ugas, of Hubbell Enterprises Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground Home Delivery station in Fort Lauderdale, Jottyn Santos, a driver for FedEx Express based in Orlando, and Paul Cleary, a driver for FedEx Freight in Orlando, respectively.

Additionally, Wayne Beckner, of Shamrock Delivery Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground Home Delivery station in Cocoa, earned the highest pre-trip inspection score and FedEx Express was awarded the second-place Team Trophy.

Connecticut

Paul Brandon, a driver for FedEx Freight in New Haven, captured his seventh consecutive title, this year in the Tank Truck class. Paul is the reigning National Flatbed Champion.FedEx Express driver

John Sanchez (Windsor Locks) earned his third state title with his win in the Step Van class. He also earned the highest pre-trip inspection score.

John Greene, a driver for FedEx Freight based in New Haven, and Drew Martin, a driver for FedEx Express based in North Haven, finished second in the 5-Axle and Straight Truck classes, respectively. John also earned the Rookie of the Year award and posted the best written exam score.

Finishing the sweep in the Step Van class were Windsor Locks-based FedEx Express drivers Joseph McClain and Glen Cooke with their second- and third-place finishes, respectively.

Anthony Harris, a driver for FedEx Freight based in New Haven, and Bill Cramer, of Herzig Hauling, domiciled out of the FedEx Ground hub in Hartford, took home the second- and third-place trophies in the Twins class, respectively.

New Haven-based FedEx Freight drivers Tom Griffin and Cruz Vazquez finished third in the 3-Axle and 4-Axle classes, respectively.

Additionally, FedEx earned the third-place Team Trophy.

Alabama

Dan Thompson, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Mobile, captured his fourth state title with a win in the Twins class.

Fellow FedEx Freight driver William Brandon (Decatur) attained the top spot in the 5-Axle class for his first title.

Charles Staples, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Birmingham, finished second in the Flatbed class.

Chason Norris, a driver for FedEx Express based in Montgomery, and Manuel Abdullah Jr., of J R Automotive & Tire Services, Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground Home Delivery station in Birmingham, placed second and third, respectively, in the Step Van class.

Richard Pratt (Birmingham) and Charlie Salter (Montgomery) took home the third-place trophies in the Straight Truck and 4-Axle classes, respectively. Both are drivers for FedEx Freight.

Arkansas

Jeff Cochran, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Texarkana, captured his second state title with a win in the Twins class.

Timo Geary, of SAV Express, Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Fayetteville, earned his second Step Van title.

Completing the sweep in the Step Van class were Ethan Scott, of Crossno Parcel Service, Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Fort Smith, and Joshua Hicks, of White River Runners, Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Fayetteville, with their second- and third-place finishes, respectively.

Eric Clark, a driver for FedEx Freight based in West Memphis, won the third-place trophy for the Straight Truck class.

Additionally, Larry Rhein, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Harrison, earned the highest score in the written exam portion of the competition. Larry finished second in the Flatbed class at the 2013 NTDC.

Indiana

Anthony Burns, a driver from FedEx Freight based in Indianapolis, earned his first state title with a win in the 4-Axle class.

Andrew Whitesel, of Weetz, Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Indianapolis, posted the top spot in the Step Van for his first title.

Greg Smith, of James K. Armour, Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Indianapolis, and Troy Davis, a driver for FedEx Express based in Michigan City, finished second in the Step Van and Straight Truck classes, respectively.

FedEx Freight driver Dan House (Lafayette) placed third in the 3-Axle class.

Additionally, Rob Book, of Seven Springs Enterprises, Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Louisville, Kentucky, earned the highest score in the pre-trip inspection portion of the competition and Charles Mason, a driver for FedEx Freight based Chicago Heights, Illinois, was awarded a sportsmanship award.

Pennsylvania

Sal Vincelli, of Kelynn Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Allentown, earned his fourth state title by winning the Step Van class. Sal finished second in this same class at the 2013 NTDC.

John Nash, of TL Deitch, Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in East Harrisburg, posted the top spot in the Straight Truck class for his second state title.

Finishing the sweep in the Step Van class were Ken Fream, a driver for FedEx Express based in York, and Chad Keefer, of CRK Delivery, Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in East Harrisburg, with their second- and third-place finishes, respectively.

FedEx Freight driver Don King (York) earned third-place in the Tank Truck class.

Additionally, David Ullman, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Pocono Summit, earned the Rookie of the Year award.

Hawaii

Chad Olson (Honolulu) earned his first state title with a win in the Straight Truck class.

Steve Haskill (Kailua Kona) captured the top spot in the Step Van class.

Iowa

Allen Sohn, of Des Moines, captured his second 4-Axle state title this year.

Brent Clausen (Mason City) finished second in the 4-Axle class.

Sioux City-based Ken Wickey took home the third-place trophy in the 3-Axle class.

Missouri

Nick Frazier, of Michael’s Messengers Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Joplin, captured his second consecutive Step Van title. Nick finished third in this same class at the 2014 NTDC.

FedEx Freight drivers Jason Budd (Springfield) and Mike Hausner (St. Louis) finished second in the Twins and Tank Truck classes, respectively.

Jim Houghton, a driver for FedEx Express based in Kansas City, placed second in the Straight Truck class.

Completing the sweep in the Step Van class were Grant Garwood, of McAllister Delivery Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Joplin, and Jared Weidmann, of D.R. Sherry, Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Kansas City, with their second- and third-place finishes, respectively.

FedEx Freight drivers Robert Elder (St. Louis), Jeff Downen (St. Louis) and Andy Hunt (Springfield) finished third in the 3-Axle, 4-Axle and Flatbed classes, respectively.

Additionally, FedEx Freight was awarded the Team Trophy.

Texas

Aryn Pittaway, a driver for FedEx Express based in Fort Worth and the second-place finisher in the Step Van class at the 2010 NTDC, captured his third Step Van state title.

Completing the sweep in the Step Van class were Fread Cielencki, a driver for FedEx Freight based in San Antonio, and Clayton Lundell, of Grams and Papa Experience Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Austin, with their second- and third-place finishes, respectively.

FedEx Freight driver Derek Green (Dallas) posted third in the 3-Axle class.

Wyoming

Nathaniel Renteria, a driver for FedEx Express based in Casper, earned his first state title with a win in the Step Van class.

Completing the sweep in the Step Van class were FedEx Express drivers Beth Hainsworth (Casper) and Allan MacDonald (Cody) with their second- and third-place finishes, respectively.

FedEx Freight drivers Budd Hetrick (Wamsutter) and Ken Rageth (Cheyenne) finished third in the 5-Axle and 3-Axle classes, respectively.

June 22, 2015 – A new record!

After a weekend that featured three state competitions, FedEx continued its winning surge, capturing 15 state titles and breaking the company record of 138 state winners. The new mark stands at 143, and with two competitions to go, FedEx is looking to add on to its record-setting total.

Team FedEx also added two drivers that qualify for the FedEx Aces team. The count now stands at six new Aces for this season.

To all the FedEx competitors who took part in their respective state championships, congratulations on a job well done!

West Virginia

Jamey Priddy, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Charleston, captured his fifth state title with a win in the Straight Truck class – qualifying him for the FedEx Aces team.

Fellow Charleston-based driver Kevin Asbury earned his fourth state title by posting at the top of the 4-Axle class.

Ken Barnett, also based in Charleston for FedEx Freight, won the 5-Axle class for his second state title.

Kenny Tresselt, a driver for FedEx Express based in Hagerstown, Maryland, took home the first-place trophy for the Step Van class.

FedEx Freight driver Courtney Clary (Huntington) finished first in the Flatbed class.

Tom Edens, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Charleston, posted first in the Twin class.

Fellow Charleston-based FedEx Freight driver Randy Thomas finished second in the Flatbed class.

Completing the sweep in the Step Van class were Andrew MacDonald, of RKB Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Beckley, and Greg Whited, of Robert Young Trucking, Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Charleston.

FedEx Freight drivers Gregory Brooks (Huntington), Bill Adkins (Huntington) and Daryl England (Charleston) finished third in the Twins, 5-Axle Sleeper and 3-Axle classes, respectively.

Additionally, David Allen, a driver for FedEx Freight in Charleston, was awarded the Rookie of the Year honor.

Kansas

Don Logan, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Topeka, earned his ninth state title with a win in the 3-Axle class. He also posted the highest written and driving course scores and earned the Grand Champion title. Don is the 2012 National Grand Champion, the prestigious title bestowed upon the competitor who achieves the highest score among the winners of all nine classes at the National Truck Driving Championships (NTDC). He was also the 2012 National Flatbed Champion, 2010 National Twins Champion and 2009 National 3-Axle Champion.

Kansas City-based FedEx Freight driver Jeff Thompson won his eighth Kansas state title – this one in the Flatbed class.

Dean Harris, also a Kansas City-based FedEx Freight driver, earned his third title, this year in the Step Van class.

Tim Helus, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Wichita, captured his first state title with a win in the Twins class.

Fellow FedEx Freight driver Ron Gabel (Great Bend) took the top spot in the Straight Truck class for his first title.

FedEx Freight drivers Wayne Rugenstein (Kansas City) and John Bouddhara (Wichita) finished second in the 5-Axle and Twins classes, respectively. John also earned the second-highest score on the written exam.

Finishing the sweep in the Step Van class were Dan Stapleton, of QIC Corporation, and James Swope, of Kmartin, Inc., both domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Lenexa, with their second- and third-place finishes, respectively.

FedEx Freight driver Troy Lape (Kansas City) finished third in the Tank Truck class.

Additionally, FedEx Freight was awarded the Team Trophy.

Montana

Clint Anderson, a driver for FedEx Express based in Billings, captured his first state title with a win in the Step Van class. He also earned the Grand Champion title.

Tom Miller, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Billings, earned his fifth Montana title with a win in the Straight Truck class. He is now qualified to joined the elite FedEx Aces team.

Fellow Billings-based FedEx Freight driver Richard Grayson posted the top spot in the 5-Axle class for his fourth state title.

Marty Anzik, a FedEx Freight driver based in Butte, won the Twins trophy for his fourth state title.

FedEx Freight drivers Keith Linn (Butte), Chuck Fiske (Butte) and Richard Wayman (Billings) finished second in the Flatbed, 5-Axle Sleeper and Tank Truck classes, respectively.

Erik Lilleberg, of JRM Enterprises Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Billings, earned the second-place trophy in the 4-Axle class.

Finishing the sweep in the Twins class were Joseph Stephens, of Custom Transport, Inc., and Reese Butler, of R & M Butler Transport Inc., both domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Billings, with their second- and third-place finishes, respectively.

Finishing the second sweep in the Step Van class were Jason Martinie, a driver for FedEx Express based in Helena, and Craig DeCelles, of JNL Brown Trucking Corp., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Great Falls, with their second- and third-place finishes, respectively.

Don LaMere, of JNL Brown Trucking Corp., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Great Falls, earned third in the Straight Truck class.

Additionally, Richard Mari, of Box Chucker Inc., domiciled out of the FedEx Ground station in Bozeman, earned the Rookie of the Year award, and FedEx Freight was awarded the Team Trophy.

June 29, 2015 – Record number of FedEx competitors headed to ‘Gateway to the West’

A new record-setting 151 FedEx competitors will be preparing to make the trek to St. Louis in August – and take their shot at winning the nine national titles up for grabs.

The FedEx competitors will have a chance to hone their skills at the Chairman’s Challenge Competition and Celebration (4C), held in Indianapolis July 11-13. Click here for a list of all the top finishers in each class.

This weekend, in competitions held in New Jersey and Washington, Team FedEx gained seven new champs and several second- and third-place finishers.

New Jersey

In the Garden State, 12 drivers drove home with hardware.

Jim Erickson, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Cinnaminson, captured his third state title with a win in the Flatbed class.

Fellow FedEx Freight driver Joe White (Newark) finished first in the Twins class for his second title.

Jorge Cardoza, a Newark-based FedEx Freight driver, earned his first Straight Truck title.

South Newark-based FedEx Freight driver Carlos Chavarriaga posted the top spot in the Step Van class.

Fellow FedEx Freight driver Jorge Lopez (Newark) won the 5-Axle class.

Bart Pachucki, a driver for FedEx Freight based in South Newark, took home the first-place trophy in the Tank Truck class.

In addition, the following drivers finished at the top of their classes.
