MEMPHIS, Tenn., July 10, 2012—Today FedEx Corp. joined an elite group of corporations named by Black Enterprise as the “40 Best Companies for Diversity.” This marks the eighth consecutive year that the respected publication has recognized FedEx for its commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Black Enterprise highlighted the company’s strong record in employing a diverse workforce. More than 40 percent of the 225,000 FedEx U.S. domestic team members are ethnic minorities. Overall, minorities comprise 29 percent of management positions.

“Our commitment to diversity is evident in our hiring, training and promotion practices,” notes Judith Edge, corporate vice president of Human Resources, FedEx Corp. “We believe that to meet the needs of a diverse customer base, we must reflect that diversity within our organization.”

To ensure that diversity and inclusion continue to thrive, FedEx recruits at historically black colleges and universities, and through organizations, publications and websites that serve African-Americans and other ethnic minorities. Examples include outreach through the National Black MBA Association, Black Collegian, among others. Education and scholarship programs supported by FedEx put higher education within the reach of many disadvantaged families. Through such organizations as the UNCF, Hispanic Scholarship Fund and the Magic Johnson Foundation, FedEx is helping to prepare students to work in the global economy.
