Coyote Logistics Expands Brokerage Model To Guadalajara, Mexico

Coyote Logistics can now better assist customers throughout Latin America by opening its new office in metropolitan Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.

Headquartered in Chicago in the U.S., the Coyote™ network of 40,000 contract carriers, over 14,000 shippers and sophisticated software is designed to facilitate trucking services between shipping companies and carriers across a range of modes and service offerings.

As a UPS company, Coyote, through the Guadalajara office, will continue to offer truckload, less-than-truckload, intermodal brokerage and transportation management services to shippers.

“The Guadalajara office is a smart expansion for Coyote and our customers,” says Coyote President, Jonathan Sisler. “We have been arranging the movement of freight into, out of and within Mexico for years, but this expansion allows us to further develop the intra-Mexico business and execute a broader, more complex array of services to existing and new customers both in Mexico and North America.”

When moving freight across borders, shippers have struggled with poor visibility and inadequate communication from third party partners. Coyote simplifies cross-border shipping with its suite of best-in-class, in-house technology products. Its cutting edge customer and carrier mobile apps provide near real-time visibility of shipments, especially at the border where many delays can occur. Coyote practices proactive communication with all parties involved when issues do arise. Advanced analytics and configurable KPI reporting are provided to shippers and carriers which provide insight into trends, enabling parties to identify and remediate costly mistakes.

Coyote offers a partial or fully outsourced supply chain management program, Collaborative Transportation Management (CTM), and a suite of technology solutions in the region giving shippers greater control over their evolving supply chains.

The U.S. and Mexico are very active trade partners. Every day, the two countries exchange about $1.4 billion in commercial trade.¹ Consumer spending in Mexico has steadily risen over the past five years. Market opportunities in Mexico are projected to surpass $325 billion by 2018 as a result of millions of households joining the growing middle class.²

A majority of freight in this trade lane moves northbound, from Mexico into the United States. Coyote, with its dense carrier network, is able to provide efficient capacity by splitting volume among multiple carriers with diverse network needs.

Shippers are positioning themselves to capitalize on Mexico’s growth. A favorable cost of goods produced, proximity to North American consumer markets, and rising labor costs in China have all prompted many U.S. companies to move a portion of their supply chains from Asia to Mexico.

“We are very excited about what this project and opportunity means for Coyote,” says Coyote Director of Mexico Business Strategy, Jose Fernandez Chavira. “The new Guadalajara office represents a significant step forward in our continued growth and success for our company as a whole. Being closer to customers and carriers will put us in a great position to increase our footprint at an even faster pace.”

“This is a significant opportunity for Coyote within the Mexican market,” says Coyote Guadalajara Senior Manager, Cesar Valdez. “We have already made significant progress developing relationships with shippers and carriers in Mexico. We are increasing our capabilities more than ever before, creating greater awareness of our services, and we are just getting started.”

The new opening in Guadalajara marks Coyote’s 17th location. Located in Andares Campus Corporativo, this new building was designed with sustainability in mind. Currently, the Central Building, Loft 1, 2, and 3 are in the process of becoming LEED-certified.

LEED certification provides independent verification of a building or neighborhood’s green features, allowing for the design, construction, operations and maintenance of resource-efficient, high-performing, healthy and cost-effective buildings.
