Tim Scharwath joins Deutsche Post DHL Group’s Board of Management

Tim Scharwath has formally joined the Board of Management of Deutsche Post DHL Group as the new CEO of DHL Global Forwarding, Freight.

Takes over from Frank Appel as Divisional CEO of DHL Global Forwarding, Freight

Tim Scharwath has formally joined the Board of Management of Deutsche Post DHL Group as the new CEO of DHL Global Forwarding, Freight. As announced in May last year, he takes over his new role from Group CEO Frank Appel, who managed the function in the interim. Scharwath was previously heading the air freight business at Kuehne + Nagel International AG. Building on his extensive expertise, he will continue to foster the successfully initiated turnaround plan and positive EBIT development of the DHL Global Forwarding, Freight business.

Over 20 years of experience in the logistics industry

Scharwath can look back at over 20 years of experience in the logistics industry, having held several management positions within Kuehne + Nagel International AG. In his latest role as Member of the Board he took responsibility for the management of the global air freight and sales organization, the integration of acquired companies, and successfully steered Kuehne + Nagel to become the number two air forwarder globally. In his new role at Deutsche Post DHL Group, he is set to continue the division’s momentum regarding the IT renewal roadmap as well as the significant progress DHL Global Forwarding, Freight made in operating profit after reporting EUR 287 million in EBIT in 2016. In the long term, the division aims to improve the gross profit-to-EBIT ratio in order to close the gap to sector benchmarks.
