Quality label recognizes DHL Global Forwarding’s outstanding service quality

Customers benefit from faster cross-border shipments and high safety standards

DHL Global Forwarding, the air and ocean freight specialist of Deutsche Post DHL Group, has gained the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) accreditation of Norwegian Customs Authority for its business in Norway. The certification acknowledges DHL’s reliable and trustworthy logistics services in the Scandinavian country. Holding the certificate provides DHL with advantages such as preferential treatment in terms of customs regulations and accelerated licensing procedures and assessments. Norway is the 44 country worldwide DHL Global Forwarding has gained the certification in, following most other European countries.“DHL Global Forwarding Norway underwent a comprehensive assessment and documented processes throughout the entire business unit. We support this initiative of the EU, as we appreciate the classification of trustworthy industry players, exposing dependable and audited companies like ourselves,” emphasizes Sandra Fischer, Global Head of Customs, DHL Global Forwarding.The Authorized Economic Operator accreditation is part of the trusted trader program of the World Customs Organization, aiming to acknowledge customs brokers, freight forwarders and cargo carriers that offer robust and trustworthy services. To gain the quality label, companies must verify appropriate accounting and logistics services, security standards as well as proven solvency. Based on its status, the customs offices grant the holder of an AEO certification certain simplifications. The criteria which have already been observed while applying for the status of an authorized economic operator are not re-examined, which speeds up customs processes.“The AEO accreditation is not only a great compliment to our work but also a very strong argument for our customers when choosing a customs broker and freight forwarder,” says Jørn Bergan Undseth, Head of Customs, DHL Global Forwarding Norway. “The certification enables faster and more secure customs procedures and adds real value to our customers as we can now offer even better and faster services.”Since 2008, companies can apply for the status of an Authorized Economic Operator in the European Union. The overarching goal of the program is to make the entire international supply chain from the manufacturer of a product to the final consumer more resilient. To achieve this objective, a worldwide recognition of the AEO status is necessary. So far, agreements have been signed with Switzerland, Norway, Japan, the USA and China. Further negotiations with other countries, such as Canada, are underway. DHL Global Forwarding holds the AEO accreditation is most European countries as well as many other places across the globe.
