FedEx Chairman and CEO Frederick W. Smith has been named by the White House to the American Workforce Policy Advisory Board, which will help drive action to provide current and future American workers with the educational and job-training options needed to succeed in the rapidly-changing economy.

At today’s executive order signing announcing the formation of the President’s National Council for the American Worker and the American Workforce Policy Advisory Board, FedEx pledged to continue its robust workforce development efforts by providing team members and communities with work-based learning and training opportunities.

“Investing in our team members and their careers has long been part of the FedEx culture,” Smith said. “We are encouraged by the Administration’s commitment to ensuring American workers develop the appropriate skills and have access to the training needed for today’s in-demand jobs and the jobs of the future.”

The American Workforce Policy Advisory Board is comprised of leaders from the private, nonprofit, and public sectors selected to help guide the efforts of senior Administration officials serving on the President’s National Council for the American Worker. Other participating companies include Home Depot, General Motors, IBM, Lockheed Martin, Microsoft, Northrop Grumman, UPS, and Walmart.
